Academic Honors and Dean's List

Purpose

  • To recognize high academic standards
  • To promote, encourage, and recognize academic excellence 

Policy

The college awards academic honors to students who have accomplished academic achievements throughout their academic career.

 

Academic Honors includes:

Dean’s List

Awarded by the College each fall and spring semester to full-time, undergraduate matriculated students who have achieved a 3.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher for the semester. Full-time status excludes Field Period and courses designated as non-credit bearing. Students with Incomplete (IN) grades at the end of the term are not eligible.

Dean’s List is reflected on the student’s official transcript each term in which the Dean’s List award is achieved.

Degrees with Distinction or Latin Honors

Awarded by the College and upon recommendation of the faculty, to graduating seniors upon the conferral of the student’s degree for students who have met the eligibility criteria.

  • Transfer students must have completed a minimum of 30 semester credits at Keuka College to qualify for any Degrees with Distinction/Latin Honors.
  • In the computation of Degrees of Distinction/Latin Honors, only coursework completed at Keuka College will count toward the calculation.
  • A student may not obtain a higher honor than the student’s Keuka College GPA indicates.
  • Degrees with Distinction are not awarded to students pursuing graduate or certificate programs.
  • Degrees of Distinction/Latin Honors are reflected on the student’s official transcript.
  • Eligibility for Degrees with Distinction/Latin Honors is based on earned cumulative grade point average as follows:
Summa Cum Laude 3.900
Magna Cum Laude 3.700
Cum Laude 3.500

Divisional Honors

Awarded by the student’s academic division for students who have met the eligibility requirements as specified by the Divisional faculty.
