Keuka College offers nursing programs leading to the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing, the Master of Science (MS) in Nursing – Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), and a Post-Graduate Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing includes two pathways. The pre-licensure BS in Nursing is a direct-entry, residential program offered on the Keuka College campus that prepares graduates for eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN® licensure examination. The RN-to-BS completion program is designed for registered nurses who hold an associate degree in nursing and an unencumbered New York State registered nurse license and wish to advance their education and career opportunities. Nursing courses in the RN-to-BS program are delivered in a hybrid format, while liberal arts courses are available either online or on the Keuka College campus.
The Master of Science in Nursing prepares baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses for advanced practice as Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners. The Post-Graduate Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate is designed for nurses who already hold a master's degree in nursing and seek preparation for certification and practice in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner specialty.
The graduate degree and post-graduate certificate programs are delivered primarily online and include a required two-day, on-campus immersion experience each semester. Faculty-designed didactic, digital, simulation, and clinical learning experiences prepare students to provide comprehensive, evidence-based primary care for adult and older adult populations. The curriculum emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, management of acute and chronic health conditions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clinical decision-making across diverse primary care settings.
Throughout the curriculum, students develop the knowledge, clinical judgment, technical skills, and professional values necessary to provide safe, ethical, patient-centered care. Clinical experiences foster collaboration with interprofessional healthcare teams while promoting the application of evidence-based practice, quality improvement, leadership, and population health principles.
Keuka College's nursing programs are grounded in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education (2021, 2026), which establishes the competency-based framework for contemporary professional and advanced nursing practice. These competencies are integrated throughout all didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical experiences.
The nursing curriculum is further aligned with the accreditation standards of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is informed by the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2025), ensuring that ethical practice, professional accountability, and social responsibility are embedded throughout the educational experience.
The bachelor's program incorporates the competencies of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative to prepare graduates to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care through the integration of quality improvement, safety, teamwork, evidence-based practice, informatics, and patient-centered care principles. The master's degree and post-graduate certificate programs integrate the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Nurse Practitioner Role Core Competencies (2022) and the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Population-Focused Competencies, preparing graduates for advanced practice and national certification.
