Article X - Faculty Development Committee

SECTION 1 - Purpose

The Faculty Development Committee serves to increase opportunities for faculty growth and development through sabbaticals and disbursement of professional development funds, among other programming to assist and recognize faculty efficacy in teaching, scholarship, and service.

SECTION 2 - Composition

  1. The Faculty Development Committee shall consist of three academic faculty members elected for terms of three years, with ex officio members as described in Article VI - Section 2.
  2. The director of the Center for Teaching and Learning is also an ex officio member of the Faculty Development Committee.

SECTION 3 - Responsibilities

To collaborate with the Office of the Provost and Center for Teaching and Learning to support the following:

  1. The continuous improvement of faculty efficacy in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  2. New faculty orientation
  3. Recommendations for dispersal of funds for faculty professional development and scholarship
  4. Recommendation of recipients of faculty development awards
  5. Speakers and other campus events that are relevant to the academic mission of the institution
  6. Acting upon policies adopted by the faculty, the committee will make recommendations concerning leaves of absence and sabbatical leaves to the provost and president for approval.
