Article VIII - Faculty Liaison Committee

SECTION 1 - Purpose

The Faculty Liaison Committee (FLC) serves as a liaison between the academic faculty and the president and provost. As representatives of the faculty, the FLC works with the president and provost to provide consultation, coordination, and feedback on matters of faculty importance, acknowledging that a positive working relationship between the faculty and administration is vital for maintaining and improving the quality of Keuka College.

SECTION 2 - Composition

The Faculty Liaison Committee shall consist of five faculty members who shall be elected for terms of three years, with ex officio members as described in Article VI - Section 2.

SECTION 3 - Responsibilities

  1. To solicit faculty-related feedback through forums, faculty meetings, and electronic platforms, and foster communication between the faculty and administration.
  2. To make recommendations and refer matters for consideration and appropriate action to the faculty and its standing committees.
  3. To serve in an advisory capacity to the presiding officer of faculty meetings concerning the agenda.
  4. To act in an advisory capacity to the president and the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.
  5. At the request of the faculty as set forth in the Bylaws of the Keuka College Faculty, to request communication with the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees in order to transmit faculty concerns and recommendation with respect to the president's performance.
  6. To carry out an annual review of the Faculty Handbook, including the Bylaws of the Keuka College Faculty.
  7. To work consultatively with Human Resources to resolve grievances through a review panel, composed of no fewer than three members of the FLC, in such matters as denial of reappointment, tenure, or promotion; when termination of appointment if effected by the institution for adequate cause; or when an allegation of violation of academic freedom is made. The review panel is convened and administered by the College's Office of Human Resources.
