EDU-353 Positive Behavioral Support for SWD
This course will provide candidates with an understanding of challenging behaviors and behavioral interventions and supports for students with disabilities (SWD), specifically students with low incidence disabilities. The course describes and analyzes the Positive Behavior Support (PBS) model utilized in most schools, and candidates will understand their roles and responsibilities as members of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Candidates in the course will also apply Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and develop Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) to IEP design as part of the PBS model. Collaboration among stakeholders, team members, parents, paraprofessionals, administrators, and students, is emphasized in the course as a means to cultivate academic success for all.
