In this course, students explore the eight dimensions of wellness and develop a wellness mindset through the lens of the course topic. Through participation in experiential and problem-solving activities, students will acquire knowledge and skills that support the practice of wellness in daily life. Students will be guided, through self-assessment and reflection, to identify areas in their life where the practice of wellness will be most beneficial. Finally, students will develop an individualized wellness plan to positively impact self and others. Students may take up to three different Wellness topics for credit. This course will help students explore “who they are” as a result of, among other factors, their family history, race, culture, religion, and political leanings. Through personal assessment and research, classroom discussion, and reflective journaling, students will identify how their background and family history have contributed to their current physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. Based on this assessment, students will identify change and growth opportunities and strategies to promote a future wellness mindset.
