KC-201G Sexual Health and Wellness *

In this course, students explore the eight dimensions of wellness and develop a wellness mindset through the lens of the course topic.  Through participation in experiential and problem-solving activities, students will acquire knowledge and skills that support the practice of wellness in daily life. Students will be guided, through self-assessment and reflection, to identify areas in their life where the practice of wellness will be most beneficial. Finally, students will develop an individualized wellness plan to positively impact self and others. Students may take up to three different Wellness topics for credit. The purpose of this course is to promote a wellness mindset (physical, mental, and spiritual) regarding sexual behaviors and reproductive health. Through participation in classroom experiential activities and independent learning, students will acquire knowledge and skills that support the practice of healthy sexual behaviors and sexual relationships. Students will be guided through self-assessment and reflection to identify areas in their life where the practice of sexual wellness will be most beneficial, including gender-related and reproductive health issues, consent and communication, the emotional and spiritual aspects of sexual relationships, prevention and reporting of sexual assault, and awareness of the wide range of human sexual behavior. Finally, students will develop a personal plan for continued practice of wellness in the future.
