Jury Duty
The College encourages employees to fulfill their civic obligations when they are called for jury duty. Employees must notify their supervisor and The Office of Human Resources of the need for time off for jury duty as soon as a notice or summons from the court is received. Employees will be paid their regular wages for the first three days of jury duty. Any additional time needed off from work will be unpaid, except as approved by the employee’s supervisor and the Vice President for Finance & Administration. Exempt employees will be paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. Time off for jury duty does not count as hours worked for purposes of overtime.
Employees who are released from jury duty early on a day the employee is scheduled to work should call their supervisor to confirm if they should report to work for the remainder of their scheduled shift.
Employees will not be subject to discrimination or retaliation for serving on a jury and/or exercising their rights under this policy.
