Bereavement Leave
In the event of a death in an employee’s immediate family, the employee may take a leave immediately following the death for the purpose of making arrangements and attending the funeral.
Employees receive up to (5) five days off with pay based on normally scheduled hours, in the event of a death of an immediate family member. For the purposes of this policy, members of the immediate family include spouse, parents, children, grandchildren, grandparents, sisters, brothers, parents-in-law, and other person’s dependent on the employee. Employees will be granted (3) three days off with pay in the event of a death of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
Employees may use available bereavement leave for the death or funeral of a same-sex committed partner, or the child, parent, or other equivalent relative of the committed partner. For purposes of this policy, same-sex committed partners are those who are financially and emotionally interdependent in a manner commonly presumed of spouses.
