- Winter Holiday (Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve)
Observed holidays that fall on a Saturday will generally be observed on the preceding Friday.
Observed holidays that fall on a Sunday will generally be observed on the following Monday.
Employees who are classified as Regular Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Limited Part-Time are eligible for observed holiday pay immediately upon hire. Employees classified as Variable Hour are not eligible for holiday pay.
Holidays pay is paid based on the employee’s regularly scheduled workday at their straight time hourly rate. Holiday pay is not counted as “hours worked” when calculating overtime.
If an employee is required/scheduled to work on one of the above observed holidays, the employee will receive holiday pay in addition to1.5 times their hourly rate for all hours worked..
Employees that are out on an approved leave of absence (short-term disability, PFL, and/or FMLA leave) will be paid for the observed holiday. However, in the cases where an employee is receiving wage replacement benefits (short-term disability/PFL), the employee may not receive more than 100% of their wages between the holiday pay and wage replacement benefits received, in accordance with applicable regulations.
Employees that are out on an approved leave of absence and using accruals (paid vacation, personal, sick, etc.) will not have the day deducted from their accruals for a holiday that falls within their approved leave.
Holidays are intended to be taken in the calendar year that they occur and are observed. Holidays are not carried over year to year and are not paid out at separation from employment for any reason.
