EDU-343 Educating Students with Severe Disabilities

This course will provide candidates with a comprehensive review of current information about low incidence disabilities. This course draws on research findings and clinical experience from a number of related disciplines, including psychiatry, psychology, neurobiology and special education disability studies. In addition, candidates will explore the medical, personal, and societal roots and implication of (dis)ability. This is also designed to help teachers develop, adapt and implement literacy and numeracy curriculum and assessments for students with severe and/or multiple disabilities. It will include an examination of various inclusive practices, and the role of the special educator as a manager and instructor.
