Services for Students with Disabilities

Section 504 of the 1973 Federal Rehabilitation Act and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) require that Keuka College make reasonable modifications of policies and practices and provide certain individualized services to otherwise qualified students with disabilities. In the spirit of these federal mandates and because of a commitment to education, Keuka College assists those who, although disabled in some way, are potentially capable of the successful completion of college. Individuals with disabilities may include those with learning disabilities (including Attention Deficit Disorder), visual or auditory impairments, speech impairments, mobility impairments, emotional illness, head trauma or medical conditions that substantially limit one or more major life activities as specified in the law. Specific accommodations will be decided on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with federal law, depending on the type and extent of disability.

Keuka College provides a variety of services for students with documented disabilities. In addition to individual and group tutoring, students can access readers, scribes, alternative testing, note taking services, and advocacy counseling.  In compliance with New York State law, Keuka College encourages students who are seeking reasonable accommodations to contact the Office of Student Success in order to discuss the services that are available. For Keuka College’s full policy regarding disability services and testing accommodations, please contact the Office of Student Success, (315) 279-5274.
