Independent Study
Independent Studies are defined as course topics that are not an existing part of the Keuka College curriculum are not currently listed in the Keuka College catalog. An Independent Study is designed to give the student with adequate qualifications an opportunity to undertake a self-directed study of a particular topic or subject not offered by the College, under the guidance of a sponsoring faculty member. It may be granted at a Division Chair's discretion if the student:
- Has a plan or project proposal, at least in broad concept, before approaching a faculty sponsor for the Independent Study.
- Finds a faculty sponsor who has the expertise and time to guide the study.
- Develops with the faculty sponsor clearly defined rationale, objectives, requirements, procedure, and methods of evaluation.
- Completes and submits an Independent Study form available on the Registrar's Office website.
The title of the Independent Study will be included on the student’s permanent academic record. The student may not register for more than one Independent Study during one semester. Students wishing to register for an Independent Study must do so prior to the add/drop period for the semester they wish to take the course. Independent Study forms are available on the Registrar’s Office website. Independent Studies are offered in line with the existing terms as listed in the Academic Calendar.
The student will be charged a fee for each Independent Study.
