College Record 2024-2025

Suspension Appeal Process

Students who have been suspended may not continue in their current registered coursework and must not attend class until an appeal has been granted. Within ten (10) business days following receipt of the notification of suspension, a student may appeal the decision by writing to the provost or designee. Students must provide evidence to support their appeal and must include plans for academic improvement. The letter of appeal must contain the following elements:

  • Those internal and external factors that contributed to the student's inability to meet the institution’s conditions for remaining in good standing,
  • The specific action(s) the student will take to prevent a recurrence of the difficulties that led to the Academic Review Board’s decision.

The student shall receive a written decision from the provost or designee generally within fifteen (15) business days of the submission of the appeal If the provost or designee does not grant an appeal, the student will be dismissed from the College and a notation will be added to their transcript. If the provost or designee grants an appeal, the student will remain actively enrolled, and their transcript will be noted that an appeal was granted. Students who have been granted a suspension appeal may be given an academic performance contract for the next semester. Failure to agree to the terms of the Academic Contract will lead to immediate dismissal. Any changes to the academic performance contract must be pre-approved by the provost or designee. If the student does not fulfill the contract, the Academic Review Board may vote to immediately dismiss the student.

Students who have been suspended and do not submit an appeal within (10) business days will be withdrawn from all current coursework, if applicable, and will not be able to enroll in future coursework. A notation of “Suspended – Dismissed” will be added to the student’s transcript. Students who have been suspended may apply for readmission two full semesters after their dismissal. All appeal decisions are considered final.
