Determining First-Time versus Transfer Applicant Status
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education definition, a first-time student is an undergraduate student who has not previously attended a college or university after graduating from high school. Students who earned college credit while in high school are still considered first-time students. First-time students who attended college for the first time in the prior summer term are considered first-time students.
Keuka College defines a transfer student as a student who has attended a college, university, or other postsecondary institution after high school graduation and subsequently seeks admission to Keuka College, regardless of whether academic credit was earned or accepted in transfer.
Graduate transfer students are students who attended another postsecondary institution at the graduate level.
