Divisional Placement Assessment

The College administers the following placement assessment or tests to incoming undergraduate students entering into on-campus programs. Placement assessment results help ensure that students are enrolled in courses aligned with their skills, experience, and needs. 

  • The English Self-Guided Placement Survey is administered through the New Student Portal.
    • Transfer students are exempt from the English Self-Guided Placement Survey.
    • Expected completion date is published in the New Student Portal. Completion after the published date may result in schedule changes.  
  • The Math Placement Exam is administered through the New Student Portal for students entering the following majors: Applied Mathematics & Finance, Biology, Chemistry, Education majors leading to certification, Environmental Science, Exploratory Health, Health Sciences, Nursing (license-qualifying), and Occupational Science/Therapy.
    • The results of this exam, along with a review of your academic transcripts, will together be used to determine your math course placement. 
    • Expected completion date is published in the New Student Portal. Completion after the published date may result in schedule changes. 
  • American Sign Language (ASL/AEI and Education with ASL majors only): American Sign Language placement evaluation is conducted though a virtual meeting with a faculty member to determine the appropriate starting language course level. Program faculty in the ASL/AEI majors will contact incoming students to arrange the meeting,

Keuka College does not permit students to use placement tests to waive specific degree requirements. Instead, placement assessments are intended solely to support accurate course scheduling. 

 

Readmitted students who do not have placement results on file should contact the Office of Records and Registration for assistance. These assessments carry no fee and do not confer academic credit. Information about placement exams is available through the New Student Portal.
