Employee Handbook 2024-2025

Overtime

Employees may be required to work overtime depending on the business needs of the College. Employees requested to work overtime are expected to work overtime as necessary, and such overtime is considered an essential function of the position. Non-exempt employees are required to receive written approval from their supervisor prior to working any overtime. Failure to obtain the requisite approval may result in discipline.

Non-exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay at a rate of one and one-half times the employee’s regular rate for all hours worked in excess of forty (40) in a workweek. Exempt employees may be required to work hours beyond their normally scheduled schedule but are not entitled to overtime premium pay.

All accrued time (time not actually worked or spent performing work) such as vacation, sick, personal, jury duty, bereavement, or any other leave time, as well as observed holidays or floating holidays (when the employee does not actually perform any work/report to work), are not counted as hours worked for purposes of calculating overtime.
