Employee Handbook 2024-2025

Call-in Policy

Employees who are going to be late or absent from work due to an unscheduled absence must personally call their supervisor. If Keuka College is closed, employees may leave a message.  Employees who are unable to report to work or who will be late to work due to unforeseen circumstances are required to notify their immediate supervisor at least 1 hour before the scheduled start of the workday, unless it is otherwise impracticable to do so. In such circumstances, the employee should notify their immediate supervisor as soon as practicable. For any additional day that an employee will be absent, employees must notify their immediate supervisor unless they have received approval to take multiple days off from work.

Employees absent for three days without contacting their supervisor will be considered to have voluntarily resigned from their position.

No-Call, No-Show

Employees that miss two or more hours of a shift and do not provide the required notice will be considered a “no-call, no-show” absence. Employees are required to provide the College with notice as soon as practicable substantiating the reason for the absence. Employees who fail to provide a substantiated or legitimate reason for the no-call, no-show absence will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination of employment.

Employees that are absent for three or more consecutive workdays without providing the College with notice will be deemed to have voluntarily quit their employment (job abandonment).

Time-Off

Employees taking time-off pursuant to the College’s time-off policy must comply with any additional notice requirements set forth therein.
