SPA-252 Culture and Civilization of Latin America

A survey of the arts, history, politics, socio-economic processes, and cultural expressions of diverse regions of Latin America from pre-Columbian times to the present. Materials for this class include textbooks, articles, select literacy readings, newspapers, documentaries, films and Internet research. This course also analyzes globalization in Latin America, and its impact in the 21st century.

One from SPA-203 SPA-208 or SPA-220 or 3 years of high school Spanish and consent of the instructor; May require placement exam; Native or heritage speakers of Spanish may obtain instructor's consent
