Article VIII - Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects and Animal Research

SECTION 1 - Institutional Review Board

The Keuka College Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee composed of members of the College community, appointed by the provost, who review and monitor human subject and animal research by College faculty, staff, and students. The IRB reviews proposed research within its purview in accordance with federal and state regulations and institutional policy.

IRB chairs are required to complete the IRB Chair CITI course. IRB members, including the ex officio, are required to complete the following CITI modules prior to reviewing and granting IRB approvals: (1) Institutional Officials: Belmont Report and CITI Course Introduction, (2) Required History and Ethics of Human Subjects Research, (3) Required Basic Institutional Review Board Regulations and Review Process, (4) Required Informed Consent, and (5) Required Conflicts of Interest in Research Involving Human Subjects. These requirements are for full compliance of e.CFR :: CFR Part 46 -- Protection of Human Subjects.

SECTION 2 - Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

The Keuka College Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is a sub-committee of the IRB , who review and monitor animal subject research by Keuka College faculty, staff, and students. The IACUC reviews proposed research within its purview in accordance with federal and state regulations and institutional policy.
