Article IV - Syllabus Guidelines Course Information

The Keuka College Syllabus Checklist is issued each term and serves to collect course syllabi for the purpose of archiving copies in the Office of the Provost. It also ensures required information is shared with students across all courses, based on best practices identified by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The clarity and quality of Keuka College's syllabi are essential to student success and the effective delivery of our curriculum; as such syllabi must conform with the Academic Affairs Syllabus Policy and NYSED requirements. Faculty should carefully review their syllabi so they are updated, complete, and clear to students. General education courses have specific requirements for syllabi. Division chairs are responsible for regularly auditing the quality and accuracy of syllabi in their division.

Syllabi must include required Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) syllabus statement inserts, which are distributed ahead of the academic year and available of the CTL Moodle site. These are updated annually, and many are required for inclusion on syllabi due to state and federal regulatory bodies' authority. The statement inserts include various important topics, such as Plagiarism/Academic Integrity/Policy for Written Work, Statement on Gender and Sex-Based Harassment and Sexual Misconduct, and ADA Accommodations.
