Students in Crisis Policy

Personal crisis is, unfortunately, a reality experienced at times by college students and their families. In an effort to ensure that all currently-enrolled students have fair opportunity to receive support in times of major crisis, a Students in Crisis policy has been adopted and a Students Helping Students (SHS) team has been initiated along with a College webpage dedicated to assisting students in crisis called KC Cares.

The SHS team is a select group of students who formulate plans of action to assist students and their families in crisis. The SHS team operates under the supervision and advisement of the College chaplain, the dean of students, and a faculty member.

Examples of major crises that may be addressed by the SHS Team include: a student becoming critically ill or who experiences life-threatening injuries; a student who experiences a major life-altering event such as a house fire or flood; or if a student dies.
