Responsible Reporting Policy

• Care, Concern & Incident Reporting

  • If you’re facing an emergency situation, please call 911 immediately, then contact Campus Safety at (315) 279-5250.  For any other situation, please consider filing a report using the links below.

  • Reports filed through our online platforms are received immediately and reviewed the next business day. A campus staff member will investigate the incident and determine appropriate intervention/action plans for the student’s behavior. This may include a meeting with the student and any other individuals involved. Please know that you and the witnesses you identify in the report may be contacted to provide further information.

  • Keuka College prohibits any type of retaliation against persons reporting misconduct or any person’s participation in the complaint or investigation process. By sharing your concerns, you are helping to maintain Keuka College’s standing as a healthy and safe campus environment. If you wish to make an anonymous report of concerning behavior, the report will be evaluated and a determination will be made as to what follow-up (if any) is necessary to address the concerns. But you are strongly encouraged to provide your name and contact information to allow us to follow up with any additional questions regarding your report.

  • Concerning Behavior Reporting Form

    • This form is for sharing concerns you have regarding the well-being of others on campus or concerning behavior that may not be considered a conduct violation but is worrisome nonetheless.

  • Informational Reporting Form

    • This form is used for informational reports only. These include any incidents which require a report but do not necessarily fall under a conduct concern. Examples include injuries, illnesses, a student returning to campus from the hospital, etc.

  • Title IX Reporting Form

    • This form should be used to report any incident in violation of Title IX Keuka College’s Sexual Misconduct Policies (including sexual harassment, sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, or any other form of sex discrimination). Keuka College encourages all victims to make a report with law enforcement agencies and seek immediate medical attention at the local hospital, especially in instances of sexual violence.

  • Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation Reporting Form

    • This form is for reports of discrimination, harassment and retaliation on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin or ancestry, age, gender, disability, citizenship or intended citizenship status, veteran status, or any other status protected by law (“protected status”). See the Keuka College Civil Rights Equity Resolution Policy & Procedures. (Discrimination, harassment, and retaliation on the basis of sex are governed exclusively by the College’s Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Policy.)

• One of the core values outlined in our current Mission, Vision, and Values statement is Integrity. At Keuka College, behaving ethically and with integrity means being honest, keeping promises, and respecting the property and interests of others. No one should feel threatened or scared to report any incident that they feel may be wrong. Safety on campus, especially the safety of minors, is everyone’s responsibility. If such incidents are not reported, little can be done to help the victims or to prevent additional members of our College community from becoming victims.

• New York state law requires the report of child abuse and neglect (Soc. Serv. Law § 413). A report is required when there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child has been abused or maltreated. This is mandated for all school officials including, but not limited to, teachers and administrators. Further, Section §414 requires reporting by any other person who has reasonable cause to suspect that a child is being abused or maltreated. There is also legislation before the state legislature to clarify and expand the classifications of people covered by mandated reporting law. The New York state hotline is 1-800-342-3720 and is generally found on the first page/table of contents of the phone directory.

• We encourage all members of the campus community to familiarize themselves with these policies and the New York state law. In addition to all New York state reporting mandates, all employees and students of the College who become aware of, or suspect, child abuse and/or neglect should immediately report such abuse or neglect to their supervisors as well as to local law enforcement authorities. These are troubling issues, but with education—and a clear sense of our moral and legal requirements—we can address them head-on. We welcome your participation in this effort.
