Repeating a Course
A course can be repeated once unless an exception has been granted. When a course is repeated, the grade and credit from the repeated course is the official grade and credit. The earlier grade and credit will be identified as a repeat and will not be computed in the GPA or institutional credit hours earned toward academic standing or graduation. Additionally, students may not transfer credit from another institution to replace an unsuccessful prior attempt through Keuka College. An exception to policy is required to deviate from this policy. All attempts will show on the student's transcript.
If a student retakes a course that they previously passed, a failed (F) second attempt will compute into the student’s GPA. A successful second attempt will replace the former attempt. Students are not eligible to retake a course for which they previously received a B+ or better.
Certain courses may be taken more than once for credit across a student’s undergraduate studies. In these situations, students must take a different topic than what they had previously attempted, and the course must fall in a different semester. In other words, students can take the same course, with a different topic, as long as the courses are not being taken within the same semester. Courses that are eligible to be taken multiple times for credit will have this designation shown in their course description.
