Students are challenged to practice critical and creative thinking skills, and they are expected to demonstrate competence in oral, written, and other creative modes of expression. This course is open to all majors. For many people popular culture has a greater influence on how they view science than formal science education. This course will examine the relationship between science and popular culture. Using modern and historical examples from television, movies, books, games and other media, we will discuss the implications for society and our understanding of science.
