KC-201P Wellness: Career Design *

In this course, students explore the eight dimensions of wellness and develop a wellness mindset through the lens of the course topic. Through participation in experiential and problem-solving activities, students will acquire knowledge and skills that support the practice of wellness in daily life. Students will be guided, through self-assessment and reflection, to identify areas in their life where the practice of wellness will be most beneficial. Finally, students will develop an individualized wellness plan to positively impact self and others. Students may take up to three different Wellness topics for credit. Developing wellness through career design is important to one's overall well-being and success. The course centers around students coming to understand their personality, values, strengths, and interests and how they impact having a career of choice. It will ask them to look at appropriate sources of career information to get a sense of whether or not the requirements of the career (such as education level, major, and salary range) meet their values and allow them to live the life that they want to live. The course will additionally look at topics such as work/life balance, preparing job search materials and running an effective job search, offer evaluation, toxic work environments, and how to advance in one's career.
