NUR-467 Foundational Concepts of Nursing Leadership and Healthcare Management

This is a theory based nursing course which focuses on concepts related to the role of the nurse as a leader and manager of care in a rapidly changing environment. This course focuses on evidence based strategies that foster quality patient care across the care continuum. Analysis of the healthcare landscape within a global context is explored. Special emphasis is placed on reflective practice using a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach to provide holistic care across the lifespan. Topics include: models of leadership, industry business trends and skills, organizational and change theories, political legal and ethical ramifications of leading patient care, budgeting, marketing, planning, problem solving and decision making.
