Article IV: Officers

Section 1. The officers of the Academic Faculty shall be the Presiding Officer, the Secretary, and the Parliamentarian.

Section 2. The Presiding Officer of the Academic Faculty shall be a tenured Faculty member who is a full-time employee of the College. The Presiding Officer shall serve for two years and shall not serve concurrently on a standing committee. Nomination and election of the Presiding Officer shall follow the same procedures as Standing Committee elections.

Section 3. The duties of the Presiding Officer contained in Robert’s Rules of Order Revised shall govern the activities of the Presiding Officer at all Faculty meetings.

Section 4. The Secretary of the Faculty shall be appointed by the Presiding Officer at the beginning of each academic year and approved by a majority of the voting members present.

Section 5. The duties of the Secretary contained in Robert’s Rules of Order Revised shall govern the activities of the Secretary of the Academic Faculty.

Section 6. The Parliamentarian shall be appointed by the Presiding Officer at the beginning of each academic year and approved by a majority of the voting members present.

Section 7. The duties of the Parliamentarian shall be to advise the Presiding Officer and the Academic Faculty on rules of procedure and to make rulings during faculty meetings.
