Management

Students may choose to develop special expertise by concentrating in accounting, international business, human resources management, marketing, entrepreneurship, or sports management. In order to graduate with a management major with a concentration, a student must satisfy the division core and management major requirements listed above and the additional requirements for each area of concentration as listed below.

Human Resources Management

The human resources management concentration is designed to provide students with an understanding of human resources planning and development, recruitment, interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, labor negotiations, and collective bargaining in a variety of settings such as government agencies, health care institutions, nonprofit organizations, as well as private, industrial, and service-based businesses.

Accounting

The accounting concentration offers a breadth of courses that allows a student to pursue a career in producing and/or analyzing financial information. All of the upper- level courses have computer applications integrated in the course to provide practical application of the material in addition to the theoretical knowledge obtained in the classroom.

Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurship concentration is designed to provide students with a foundation for starting their own business. A variety of areas including marketing, accounting, and finance are covered to prepare students for the capstone course, Entrepreneurship. In this course, students will run their own micro-enterprise, the Keuka College commemorative wine project.

Marketing

The marketing concentration is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of marketing that will complement the student’s management major. Upon completion, the student will be more competitive in the job market and a better manager of marketing functions once employed.

Sports Management

The sports management concentration is designed to provide students with an opportunity to pursue a career in the management of amateur, collegiate, and professional sports organizations and venues that offer sporting and other large scale events as well as opportunities in sports marketing, communications, and public relations.

International Business

The international business concentration is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the growing importance of international business and the international marketplace. This concentration will add an international perspective to a solid management foundation. Upon completion of this concentration, the student will be more competitive in today’s increasingly global job market.
