College Record 2019-2020

Student Government

The Keuka College Student Senate includes all students and is governed by a student-elected Senate and officers. Members are elected to represent residence halls and commuting students, class years, and students-at-large.  There is also an international student representative and a multi-cultural student representative.

Elected members serve one-year terms. The Student Senate governs social activities on campus, controls financial matters related to the student activities fee, and serves as the formal vehicle for gathering student recommendations on College policy and plans. The Student Senate has overall responsibility for reviewing and monitoring the activities of all student organizations it has recognized.

While all organizations and clubs have a role in the co-curriculum, two student government groups provide particularly important opportunities for developing attributes such as leadership, problem– solving, decision–making, group process, and interpersonal skills, all of which are transferable to future life and career roles.

These groups are:

• The Budget Allocations Committee:  Allocates the student activities fee to recognized student organizations. Allocated funds support activities, concerts, lectures, dances, other social events, conferences, and student publications.

• Campus Activities Board: CAB, the primary programming body of the Student Senate, sponsors mixers, cultural activities, recreational events, and lectures in addition to special events for Green and Gold Weekend, Party in the Park, Alcohol Awareness Week, Celebrate Seniors Weekend, Spring Weekend, May Day, New Student Orientation/Wolf Week, Welcome Back Week, and the Annual Semi-Formal Dance.
