Article I - Statement of Responsibilities
SECTION 1 - Overview of Faculty Responsibilities at Keuka College
All members of the faculty, whether tenured or not, with full-time or part-time appointments, including those who are reappointed for a specific term after retirement, are responsible for upholding the responsibilities of their appointment type and fulfilling these responsibilities in a way aligned with the College's Mission, Vision, and Values. Detailed letters of appointment are issued annually to full-time faculty and per course contracts are issued to adjunct faculty as needed.
Teaching responsibilities should be conducted in a manner appropriate to the discipline to achieve student learning outcomes as identified at the course, program, and institutional level. Instruction should be offered as scheduled with course contact hours being met and communication - including syllabi, feedback on assessments, responses to student inquiries, and advisement - being clear, comprehensive, and timely.
All faculty are responsible for engaging in effective and timely communication (e.g., email response time, updated e-calendars, timely responses to meetings) and for building collegial relationships through interpersonal interactions aligned with College values to support the College's academic enterprise. For full-time faculty with service obligations, it is the responsibility of faculty members to attend and participate in division meetings, faculty meetings, Academic Affairs meetings, College meetings, academic ceremonies, course and program assessments, program review, and other related activities in support of delivering student learning experiences.
All faculty should engage in professional development activities designed to improve teaching and learning, as well as to keep faculty members current in their disciplines. Non-tenure track full-time faculty are required to engage in professional development as one of their pillars of evaluation and scholarly activities are encouraged but not required. Tenure track faculty are required to engage in scholarship as appropriate to their discipline as well as engaging in professional development activities.
