F. Policy and Procedure for Adjunct Instructor of the Year
1. Policy:
Each year, Keuka College will honor an adjunct instructor by declaration as “Adjunct Instructor of the Year.”
2. Eligibility, Procedure and Selection of Award Recipients:
Any adjunct instructor who has met the following criteria is eligible for nomination:
a. The nominee has been an adjunct instructor for a minimum of four years at Keuka College and taught a minimum of 24 credit hours.
b. The nominee is not a full-time Faculty member or otherwise eligible for consideration for the award of Professor of the Year.
c. Individuals who have received this award are not eligible for reconsideration for four years.
3. Selection Criteria:
a. In the judgment of the nominator, the adjunct instructor has demonstrated excellent performance in the classroom based upon observable assessment (professionalism, peer evaluation, consistency, etc.), student evaluations, program commitment, and adherence to college policies.
b. The nominee’s SEI data must accompany the nomination letter. Any additional supporting documentation will aid in the selection process.
4. Nomination Procedure:
a. Prior to Feb. 15, any program Chair/Director may propose one adjunct instructor to the Chair of the PSC for nomination. Any such nomination should include an accompanying written rationale.
b. Prior to March 1, these nominations will be forwarded to the Provost with a concise one- or two-page written rationale.
5. Selection Procedure:
a. No later than April 15, a panel consisting of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; one student (from Board of Trustees, if applicable), two representatives of the PSC, and the President will select the individual recipient.
b. The award will be presented at the spring Commencement.
