POL-440 Research Seminar in Politics & History †
This course will serve as a capstone seminar that applies coursework in political science and history to discipline-related research, using current issues in American and international politics as the foundation for class discussion and problem-driven inquiry. The course structure mirrors that of a research paper, and students will work through a series of assignments that will ultimately result in the completion of a capstone project on a topic of their choice. Along the way, students will explore issues related to developing original research questions, identifying and reviewing relevant scholarly sources, creating a research design, collecting and analyzing data, making revisions, and completing a final draft. Students will also learn how to give effective feedback to one another, and incorporate that feedback into their revisions.
