Participation in Commencement

Upon the recommendation of the College and the Board of Trustees, Keuka College confers degrees on the last day of every month. The College’s formal commencement ceremony is held during May. To be eligible to participate in commencement:

  1. Students must be in good academic standing (see academic standing portion of the catalogue for details)
  2. Undergraduate students must complete their degree requirements or be within 18 credit hours of meeting all graduation requirements, including no more than three outstanding Field Period credits as required by the degree. Latin honors will not be read for students with remaining degree requirements; however, if earned upon completion of degree requirements, they will be noted on the transcript and diploma. Graduate students must complete their degree requirements or be within 9 credits for of meeting all graduation requirements.
  3. Students who are within 18 credits must register for their outstanding requirementsprior to commencement with a schedule reflecting a completion date of the December following the commencement ceremony. The student’s ability to complete all outstanding requirements by this deadline may be verified by proof of registration or an approved exception to policy related to the approved degree completion timeline.
  4. Students who are not in good academic standing, are above maximum credits remaining for degree completion, or have more than three outstanding Field Period credits who want to participate in May Commencement may file an exception to policy with the Office of Records and Registration which will be sent to the Provost or designee for approval. These Exception to Policy requests must be received prior to the deadline for Commencement Applications to be considered
