IV. Program Directors

A. Description
The Program Director serves as an administrator of the program they are assigned to oversee. The Program Director serves the needs of the assigned Division by leading and directing the day-to-day academic activities of the assigned program in coordination with the Division Chair. The Program Director works collaboratively with academic departments, Faculty, and staff to ensure academic quality. This person does not have tenure in their office; this person may or may not be a Faculty member. Program Directors may be hired into the position. Program Directors report to, and serve at the pleasure of the Chair of the Division in which their program resides.

B. Eligibility
Terminal degree or equivalent in Division-specific field preferred. Must meet accreditation requirements if applicable.

C. Term of Appointment
Appointments follow the academic calendar year, Aug. 16-Aug. 15, for a 12-month contract, Aug. 16-July 15 for an 11-month contract, or Aug. 16-June 15 for a ten-month contract.

D. Responsibilities of the Program Director

1. Responsible for managing the day-to-day operational issues of the program.
2. Provide reports and information to Division Chair, as requested
3. Serve as a resource for instructors and students within the program.
4. Assist the Division Chair in the recruitment, hiring, and review of adjunct instructors.
5. Assist the Division Chair in the recruitment and hiring of full-time faculty.
6. Collaborate with Enrollment Management efforts in determining cohort locations and the launch of projected cohorts.
7. Assist in the coordination and scheduling of course instructors and cohort advisors.
8. Assist in the monitoring and review of course and program materials and administrative practices for adherence to institutional and external accreditation standards as applicable.
9. Assist in the coordination and scheduling of adjunct, part-time, and full-time faculty evaluation and professional development.
10. Collect, analyze, and document data related to program assessment, including but not limited to survey results and class retention/graduation data. Monitor progress to meet or exceed the desired learning outcomes within the program.
11. Monitor and evaluate curriculum fidelity and quality.
12. Consider budgetary implications when allocating resources that include learning materials, instruction, and travel expenses in support of effectiveness and efficiency.
13. Resolve issues and problems that may arise with Faculty, staff, and students in a timely fashion consistent with institution policy and practice, and in coordination with the Division Chair or Provost’s Office as needed.


E. Evaluation of Program Directors
The Division Chair is responsible for the evaluation of Program Directors. Evaluations should be submitted to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
