Campus Safety Video Recording
Primarily for safety purposes, campus safety officers wear micro-video recording devices. These recorders will be worn at a visible location on the front of the campus safety officer’s uniform. These devices will be used to document crime scene evidence as well as acts of misconduct in progress by anyone on campus. With the exception of emergency circumstances, the officers will be required to clearly announce to those present that the device has been activated. This statement serves as a fair warning to all present that their actions and/or words are being recorded. Students should note that these recordings may be used later in any subsequent official judicial proceeding regarding the incident. Officers are strictly prohibited from using these devices for anything other than official business, or to use them in any inappropriate or non-essential manner.
