Student Handbook 2020-2021

The College coordinates two evacuation fire drills each semester for all residential facilities. Thus, the emergency response and evacuation procedures are tested at least four times each year. Students, faculty and staff learn the locations of the emergency exits in the buildings and are provided guidance about the direction they should travel when exiting each facility for a short-term building evacuation. In the event that a fire alarm is activated, College policy is that all occupants must evacuate from the building, closing doors as they leave. Willful failure to evacuate will result in disciplinary action. The importance of these drills cannot be overstressed. In an emergency situation panic creates confusion and disorientation. These drills are intended to help you develop your ability to react quickly to an emergency without your having to stop to try to remember what you are supposed to do.
