Student Handbook 2020-2021

Student Justices

In order to provide students with an equitable conduct process, Student Justices serve on the College Hearing Committee in formal disciplinary hearings, so that accused students may be judged by a panel that includes their fellow students. At Keuka College, Student Justices serving on a Committee Hearing have the same decision-making and sanctioning authority as their staff and faculty co-members. Additionally, Student Justices serve on the Student Conduct Committee, which is a sub-Committee of the College Hearing Committee.

  • The Student Justice Committee shall review the existing Student Code of Conduct and make recommendations to the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards for the revising of policies and procedures concerning Student Conduct at Keuka College.
  • The Student Justice Committee shall appoint a Chief Justice, who will serve as their spokesperson and chair. They will be the primary liaison with the Chief Disciplinary Officer at Keuka College.
  • The Chief Justice or their designee will serve as the student representative on the Conduct Appeals Panel.

Students interested in becoming a student justice should contact the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. Student Justices must achieve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5, and must have a satisfactory conduct record with the college to be eligible. Student Justices must abide by the Student Code of Conduct and be willing to enforce all College and Residence Hall policies and regulations.
