College Record 2020-2021

Course and Credit Information

In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education guidelines, a credit hour is defined as college level credit or the transfer of coursework from another accredited institution. More specifically, a credit hour equals 12.5 academic hours of instruction time/instructor led activities plus 25 academic hours of out of class student work. Per the U.S. Department of Education guidelines, New York State Education Department, Middle States, and the Council on Higher Education, an academic hour equals 50 minutes. One credit hour reflects an amount of work represented in the course learning outcomes and verified by evidence of student achievement for these learning outcomes.  All courses are required to meet this standard regardless of delivery method (online, hybrid, accelerated, etc.).

Degree requirements are stated in terms of semester credit hours. The proportion of classroom, laboratory, and study time will vary from course to course.

Quarter-term credits transferred from other accredited colleges to Keuka College are translated into semester credit hours as follows: quarter credit hour multiplied by 0.67 equals a semester credit hour.
